We reported back in February that Microgaming would have two big slot releases in 2014: the long awaited Games of Thrones slot and the blockbuster bone crushing Terminator 2 slot.
Whilst we are still awaiting the HBO series game, we’ve just received a video preview of the latter, with all the human killing cyborgs you’ve come to love and expect from a video slot based on the 1991 movie Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
Due for release on June 4th, why not sit back and watch the 2 minute video with movie clips, glimpse at the features and hints at the game play. Continue reading for our thoughts on the T2 slot.
Terminator 2 Slot Video Preview
Now for the fun bit. Where we make huge assumptions based on very little information from a 2 minute video. It’s fun being judgemental sometimes.
- 243 ways to win! Surprise! Shock! Unless told otherwise, we are going to assume that every big Microgaming video slot release moving forward is going to be 243 ways to win. It’s fine, we like 243 ways to win, but how about a 9 liner every once in a while?
- You’ll get clips of the original movie on the big wins, much like you do on The Dark Knight Rises mobile slot, to great dramatic effect.
- There appears to be a randomly triggered ‘T-800’ vision bonus round. Not a huge fan of randomly triggered features. Hard to feel the anticipation or try and hit a bonus feature which can happen at no point at all. Like the wild storm in Thunderstruck II. Mostly you don’t get much, sometimes it’s worthwhile and you can never depend on it to arrive when you need it. A waste of a good feature. Looking at the T-800 bonus feature it seems to be on the same kind of line, with just a little top up to your wallet and a single free spin trigger. Does that mean you get lots of free spins? Or just the one? We can’t decipher that. If it leads to the free spin feature then the T-800 may be saved after all.
- The free spin feature triggered by 3 scatters: now this is what we are talking about! The screen expands to go from a 5 x 3 reels to 5 x 4, giving you 1024 ways to win. This is starting to look interesting as you increase your chances for 4 symbol and 5 symbol wins. Add the fact that the T-1000 symbol changes to whatever symbol is likely to create a win (much like an extra wild) and we like our odds on the free spins.
- If this slot is not medium volatility then we are changing our name to Sarah Connor and advertising in the local newspaper to be easily found by time travelling assassins.
Our Verdict for the T2 slot machine
To be honest… we are pretty excited. We love the movie and this online slot looks like it will capture that blockbuster feeling.
And it’s not just because we love the movie. It also looks like a fairly simple machine, which we find promising. Other than the randomly triggered feature, this is just a 243 ways to win bonus game slot.
You spin, you get free spins where you can hopefully get more than a little cash, you spin again and wait for the free spins again. We like simple occasionally, and if it’s beautifully done, all the better for it.
Whether it’s a truly GREAT slot machine will depend on whether you can genuinely find some big wins on this slot.
Terminator 2 mobile slot?
We are going to go for a big fat hopeful maybe. After all, it’s not a complicated slot with tons of features like Avalon II.
T2 mobile slot is a real possibility when you consider that the bonus games are nothing that Microgaming hasn’t released in their many other slots for mobile.
Go Wild will no doubt get this killing machine first. If you want to check out their mobile platform you can claim our exclusive£$€7 free no deposit bonus to try out their mobile casino.
Otherwise, if you prefer multi software casinos, Guts Casino is one of our favourites.
