We love new game slot releases, and we love it even more when we are given a sneak preview of the games ahead of the release.
Which is what we have here. We’ve got an exclusive YouTube video of the game, all the features, and even some extra information that might surprise you.
Created back in the 1930s, this iconic swords and sandals Barbarian is a well-known character by almost everyone worldwide, even if you’ve only seen the Arnold Schwarzenegger 1982 film.
So have NetEnt done justice to our favourite Cimmerian? Let’s have a look.
All about the Conan the Barbarian slot game
You can watch a 2-minute video or you can read our full thoughts about it below.
In short, Conan the Barbarian is a 6 reel, 4 rows, and 24 fixed paylines with wilds, scatters, multipliers, mystery symbols and 3 different types of free spins where you pick the volatility.
But the reality if so much more complex, and that’s a good thing. When you have a brand like Conan you want to do something special and NetEnt are good at doing special.
From the Guns and Roses slot to the wonderful Jumanji game review, you’ll know that some of our favourite NetEntertainment slot machines have some of the biggest brands.

Let talk about that slot theme
Ok, the first thing we have to talk about is the gorgeous fantasy slot theme. If you were expecting Arnold, we apologise, but NetEnt has gone a little more traditional and back to the original books by Robert E Howard.
And that’s brilliant because it doesn’t look dated and, in fact, has a timeless air that we suspect was done on purpose in order to ensure it will last.
You have three main characters – Conan the Barbarian is the highest pay symbol on the paytable, you then have the villain and the beautiful warrior princess.
You then have a helmet, shield and grappling hook, because we all know that Conan wasn’t always an upstanding member of society, with then 3 coins representing each of the 3 cities you will visit on your online casino travels.
Conan’s slot quick statistic
Before we talk about how we feel about this game, let’s take a look at the vital statistics.
- 6 reels, 4 rows and 14 fixed paylines
- Min/Max Bet: 0.20 / 20
- RTP: 96.01-96.65%
- Max Win: 40,320
- Spreading wilds creep over the reels
- You can choose from one of 3 different free spin round
- You can find stacks of mystery symbols, and a multiplier to boot
So far, so good. But let’s break it down a little bit and see what you might expect.
Will this NetEnt Conan slot be any good?
Well, you’ll have to wait for our Conan slot review in order to find out, but we can pass some judgement now. Because what’s the point of writing this game preview if we have nothing to say?
So first you should know about that three free spins bonuses:
- The City of Thieves Free Spins: (Low/Medium volatility) Tower Wilds can appear on all reels.
- The Temple of Serpent Free Spins: (medium/high volatility) where both Mystery and stacked Mystery symbols can appear on all reels.
- The Walls of Tarantia Free Spins: (low/medium volatility) Battle Wilds can appear on all of the reels.
In short, you’ve got two safe bets, where you might win 20x to 50x your bet. And then you have the Temple of the Serpents, where anything can happen in the Snake Cult under the leadership of the evil Thulsa Doom.

We are concerned about the numbers
The top win in this NetEnt slot game is 2,016 times your bet. Which is a brilliant amount for what looks like a medium to low variance slot machine.
The problem is that the only way to get that is by getting stacks of mystery symbols on reels 3 and 4, giving you a random multiplier.
The multiplier ranges from 2x to 7x – and you need to hit that 7 in order to get the wins over 2,016 times your bet.
Without it, the wins are a lot less. Like maybe 100 times your bet on the other two free spins. Because the most you can win is 840 in a single line bet. Not bad, but hardly worthy of Conan the Emperor. More like Conan the petty thief.
Cautiously optimistic about this New NetEnt online slot
OK, so the base paytable is a little low without those multipliers. And those multipliers sound mighty difficult to catch.
What surprised us is that this has 6 reels and only 24 paylines. That’s either a great thing or a really bad one because you need 6 of a kind wins to get anything decent, on just a few paylines… but it could mean that NetEnt will allow this Conan slot machine to pay out 4 or 5 of a kind wins often.
It could be a thrilling fun, low variance ride full of hordes of bonus features and some wonderful clashes of free spins. Or you could spin and win nothing because you get no multipliers and no 6 of a kind wins.
Honestly, we’re not sure how it’s going to go in this case, so we are just going to go play on the Wild Turkey slot also released in September 2019 by NetEnt.
As a nice reminder that they can make good games and we should try and stay positive. Positive that if we pick a great multi-software casino like Videoslots on mobile, we will always have lots of different choices to pick from.
You know. Just in case.
