It’s hard to judge a slot game based on a couple of images and some statistics. But we can damn well try.
So Yggdrasil Gaming have told us that we can expect a heavenly new mobile slot game at the end of November, based around… euh… 3 goddesses?
We’re not massively hot on our theology, but we don’t think this is meant to be about any particular religion. More a made up cult of creatures a fantasy writer created after reading about the far east.
Yeah, let’s go with that. Should stop people from looking too deeply at whether they should be offended by this Nirvana slot.
Mythical creatures in the valley of the 3 goddesses
Truly, when we say this is set in a fantasy land, we believe it with all our hearts.

Unless, of course, you’ve ever met a phoenix, a rabbit with antlers and… a fish-faced snake? Maybe? And a… cat eagle? EagleCat? Meh. Something.
Totems to the goddess which you will only spy during the free spins rounds.
The rest of the symbols feel fairly generic – gemstones in the shape of card suits. So a ruby heart, an amethyst spade, an emerald club, and a blue diamond.
Why it’s hard to judge the theme of this new mobile slot
For one, we find that screenshots rarely do Yggdrasil games justice. Look at the new Doubles slot machine; when we first did a preview we were unimpressed by the blocky look of the fruits.
Yet we gave that a 5 star review as it was a high-energy colourful, fun, game. The animations and sounds exceeded expectations.
And we literally have nothing to compare this to; it’s unlike anything else that this casino slot software studio has created in the past. In terms of graphics, it might be a little ‘Casino Zeppelin‘ ish? But that’s the best we got.
Basically, what we are saying is that we don’t want to diss the theme too much, as we don’t want to swallow our words in 2 weeks time.
So far Yggdrasil have done nothing but impress us with their attention to detail and animations, so let’s be a little optimistic about a casino slot based on a made up tranquil matriarchal magical valley.
Damn. That just doesn’t sound like a thrill a minute ride, does it?
What do we know about the Nirvana bonus games?
We actually know quite a fair bit, because Yggdrasil aren’t shy about giving us details for their upcoming games. And why should they be? They want you to play, so you need to know everything you can about it.

At first we were as lost as you about what to think about the Nirvana mobile slot. And then we re-read some of the features and realised that we have seen this before… just not from Yggdrasil.
Can you compare it to Hook’s Heroes?
The Hook’s Heroes slot game from NetEnt came out in September 2015, and if our instincts ring true, Nirvana shares some common DNA.
Oh the theme is totally different. You can’t get more different.
But both are 20 payline slots, both have multiple ‘wild’ features to pick from during the free spins, and both allow you to pick a new bonus features if you re-trigger the free spins.
More importantly, and here’s where we suddenly got our ‘eureka!’ moment, both trigger re-spins on 2 scatters with one of the 3 features randomly chosen for you.
But you only gave that slot 3 stars!
Hey, 3 stars isn’t bad. We get a lot of 3 stars iOS and Android slot reviews. That’s basically our ‘average’ rating; it’s not unique, it’s not superb, but it’s playable, and sometimes even fun.
Our main problem with Hook’s Heroes, actually, was the theme. Which, granted, the Nirvana slot machine hasn’t exactly tickled our funny bones either.
But anything has to be one step up from psychotic pirate children, right?
Mr Green has all the Yggdrasil games and gives you 100% up to £€$100 + 100 free spins.
Why there’s still hope for Nirvana
For one, the 3 wild bonus features in this game are different from Hook’s Heroes. Meaning it could change the enjoyment of the game completely.
Which actually isn’t necessarily a good thing as that was the bit we loved about that NetEnt slot.
Still, it means there will be enough differences, including how much you can win, to make Nirvana it’s own unique creature.
Add that you get not 1 but 2 free re-spins on 2 scatters, with that mystery feature, and if it hits frequently enough…
Let’s just say that it might not be the slot machine we expected, but it’s probably the slot we deserved, and one NetEnt wished they had created.
Where can I play Yggdrasil games?
We have a couple of favourite spots. Unfortunately, Yggdrasil do not have their UK gambling license (yet, it’s coming), so if you’ve read all of this and are from Blightey… sorry. Guess we should have warned you?
You should totally read about IGT’s Sherlock Holmes: The Hunt for Blackwood upcoming slot. It looks awesome. (Sorry again).
For those of you lucky enough to be able to play Yggdrasil games, we heartily recommend you start with the incredibly good fun Cyrus the Virus, or the more recent Vikings Go Wild.
But where you cry?
- If you want a huge bonus, no where is better than Leo Vegas casino, who give you £1,500 / €$1,000 in bonus over 4 deposits + 200 free spins.
- On the other hand, if you fancy feeling special, you also get an exclusive bonus of 10 free spins no deposit + 100% up to £€$200 at Vera & John casino.
Both are our top two casinos, so you’ll be well looked after.
