Every month we have the pleasure of getting a sneak preview of the upcoming new Play’n GO slot machines, and every month we give you some of the highlights.
Why? Because in terms of ‘excitement levels’, Play’n GO are on a serious winning streak. In fact, over the last 6 months we’d say they’ve released far more exciting mobile slot games, overall, than even the likes of NetEnt and Microgaming.
Controversial, we know, but we’ll stand by it.
So let’s dive deep into the Eye of The Kraken slot… Will this undersea adventure be worth the trip?
Something a little bit different
It’s been a while since mobile video slot providers have broken away from the 5 reel template – unless of course, they are releasing a classic 3 reel fruit machine.
Get £€$300 in Cash and Play on Play’n GO slots for longer at Guts casino.
Which, though the Eye of The Kraken is a 3×3 game, this is far from a classic slot.
It’s 10 thousand leagues under the sea far away from the fruities you find in the pub.
Because technically, this casino game has 9 reels, as each symbol spins independently from each other.
What does that mean for your game play?
To be honest, it’s hard to tell at this stage. Will it make bonus features harder to hit, but winning easier? Maybe.
What we can say for sure, is that you’ll have 8 paylines, and it allows the slot to have a wide betting range of 0.10 to 100 a spin.
More importantly, it makes things different.
We haven’t seen a 3×3 mobile slot in ages, and most of the good ones (ie. Chinese Kitchen) are Playtech. Nothing wrong with the software as such, but good Playtech casinos? Not the easiest to find, and when you do, all you can play is Playtech, and nothing else.
Play’n GO casinos, on the other hand, are far easier to encounter, and they play well with other casino software. Meaning you’ll find them in great casinos like Leo Vegas and Vera and John.
All about the story…
Maybe ‘story’ is giving it a little too much credit, but you can see the logic happening in the heads of the Play’n GO creators.
- 200% up to £€$50
- 50% up to £€$150
- 50% up to £€$200
- 25% up to £€$300
First, you create a retro ‘Jule Vernes / Steam Punk’ slot.
Then you set it in the dark, cold, waters of the northern seas. You won’t find any friendly dolphins, or brightly coloured coral here.
This is a deep sea adventure, where amongst the tall, unwelcoming mountains of our deepest oceans, lies dangers, thrill, and discovery.
Specifically you are hunting down an old tale, a myth spoken in hushed whispers amongst old sailors, on the long voyage home.
It’s a tale of a sea creature, so large, so ferocious, that it has consumed the tallest proudest ships of the known world. Ships filled with hordes of treasures.
That treasure is your goal. The Kraken, your target.
There are two main bonus features
As you can see from the image above, during your game, a looming shadow will appear in the background, and long tentacles will reach within the game and create wilds on the reels.
These are the only wilds on screen. On one hand, if they show up too often, unless the animations are particularly well done, it could get annoying.
On the other, if they don’t, and you never get wilds, it could be as frustrating. Time will tell.
Then you have the free spins, where you need 5 scattered diving helmets to get 9 free spins. Yeap, 5. We can only assume they shows up often, or the payoff for waiting is really, really, good.
The free spins reels do have two extra interesting symbols – an extra wild symbol, the eye of the kraken, and a treasure chest, giving you instant cash as you spin.
What? You don’t see any actual beast?!
We said there were two main features. We didn’t say they were the only ones.
- Royal Masquerade
- Enchanted Crystals
- Energoonz
- Wild Blood
The third feature is a click me game, where you can win up to 500 times your bet. That got your attention right?
The reason we didn’t mention it above, is that it will probably takes a while to trigger. Best case scenario, about 30/50 spins, worse case, maybe 100, maybe more?
Because you need to collect 50 torpedo symbols, as you spin, to get the click me bonus.
It’s not as much as some out there, but we suspect you will need to be happy to play a game where, for company, you mostly just have random wilds and free spins.
Worth getting excited about?
Play’n GO have done something very clever with the Eye of the Kraken slot machine.
Sure, at first glance it doesn’t appear to have the HUGE wins that you’d find in Royal Masquerade or the Spin Party slot, (for example).
But that’s because this undersea adventure seems to be a very different beast. Here’s why:
- It’s a visual feast for the eyes. It’s beautiful and certainly different from your usual 5×3 fares.
- It’s a slot adventure. It should, even, get you excited when you don’t win anything, as long as you get a torpedo or two which gets you one step closer to your head-on encounter with the tentacled monster.
- It feels like the kind of slot game which is there for pure fun and frolics, whilst you play on the go.
If it ends up being good value for money, and the Kraken doesn’t take your wallet down to the bottom of the ocean too quickly, it should be another hit for Play’n GO.
Can’t wait till the 1st of October to try this casino slot?
Neither can we. Till then, we fully recommend you play on the Tower Quest mobile slot, which will give you a taste of Play’n GO’s unique gaming style.
Where can you play we hear you shout?
Our favourite spot at the moment for Play’n GO games is Vera&John casino, with an exclusive 30 free spins + 100% up to £€$200 bonus.
Also, not that we like to gossip (hahahaha… yeah, no, we didn’t believe that either), but we’ve heard that there will be a special promotion at this casino come the 1st of October 2015.
So don’t watch this space. Watch the Vera & John space.
