We won’t lie. When we first heard that Leander Games was going to release a Taxi online slot, we automatically thought of the Martin Scorsese movie Taxi Driver.
Mostly because we couldn’t think of anything Taxi related that would be equally famous and because we can’t remember seeing a single one of the Taxi TV episodes. But when we looked at it, the show ran from 1978 to 1983, so… yeah, we are showing our age.
Still, we know a little bit about it. We know it’s what made Dani DeVito famous in the first place. And having done a little research into it, we have to admit that we are clearly in the minority.

For for those of you (us) who had to have a refresher course on the TV series, we found a snippet of the TV show showing Christopher Lloyd and Mr DeVito at their… Taxiest? Is that a thing?
The whole show ran for 5 seasons. It was popular. It even has guest appearance from stars before they were stars, like Tom Hanks and Tom Selleck.
Based around a collection of varied and strange characters at a New York City taxi garage, it was your standard half hour comedy sitcom.
As such Leander Games have ensured that they kept true to the original series, it’s cast, and the setting.
What do we know about the Taxi slot online
It will be a video slot of course, with 5 reels and 15 paylines. We don’t know if it will be mobile, but we doubt it. Leander are only just starting to enter into the mobile phone slot world, and are currently doing a back catalogue of their greatest hits.

When will it be released?
In 2015.
If that seems a little vague it’s only because… it is. Very vague. Leander haven’t committed to a release date yet.
Just that it will be some time this year.

Ok, so we don’t know the show very well. And in order to get really excited, we would need to be fans.
Not to mention that seeing as we don’t know when it will be released, you can’t really get that passionate about something that could happen tomorrow or in 10 months time.
And then there’s the fact that it’s likely that the Taxi online slot will remain online, rather than phones and tablets, which means we won’t get much of a chance to play it, other than some curious spins.
Though obviously not everyone has the mobile ball and chain we have, what with having to pass our time playing and reviewing mobile and tablet slots 90% of the time.
