If you are a fan of slot machines only, you may not know who is Evolution Gaming. If you’ve ever played live casino, you’ll be familiar with the live dealer casino giant.
Evolution Gaming games are in every casino, with hugely popular table games, from the wheel of fortunes to live roulette to blackjack. They are, by far, one of the biggest online gambling companies around.
Evolution Gaming will pay €200m to buy No Limit City slots straight away. A further €140m will the be paid out dependent on future performance in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
All of this total will be paid in cash, paid from existing reserves, as reported by iGaming Business.

Why did Evolution Gaming buy No Limit City?
Evolution Gaming has been dominating the live casino scene for a while now. Their next logical step was to start taking over the world of video slots.
Because capitalism?
If you don’t believe us, look at the facts. In 2020 they decided that rather than start creating their own slot games they would buy the games.
2020: First NetEnt and Red Tiger Gaming
So they bought out a little company called NetEntertainment. You may have heard of it?
NetEnt slots have some of the most well-known games around, from the Starburst slot to the Gonzo’s Quest game. They are not a small company.
In fact, the year before NetEnt bought Red Tiger Gaming slots, which now belong… you guessed it, to Evolution Gaming.
Whilst the rest of us were baking sourdough bread and going crazy stuck at home, Evolution Gaming got busy spending money.

2021: We’ll take Big Time Gaming slots too, thanks
Another year, another chance to grow their slot portfolio. But now, instead of buying a big brand name that everyone knows and loves, they want all the latest and hottest game releases.
Big Time Gaming slots may have been around for years, but it’s only since they released the Bonanza Megaways slot in 2016 that they started to become a household name.
It’s not enough to have games that people have loved, now is the time for Evolution to get the slots that everyone loves right now.
2022: buying the future with NoLimit City slots
So why would Evolution buy NoLimit City video slots? Because if they have bought the past and the present, now they want the future.
And if we had to name one software provider that keeps releasing some of the most interesting new video slots of 2022, it would be none other than NoLimit City.
“With the addition of NoLimit City to the Evolution family, we extend our portfolio of truly innovative and cutting edge games from the top brands and game makers in the industry,” The Chairman of Evolution Gaming, Jens von Bahr stated “We have followed… their team for a few years and been impressed as they have established a completely new style of slot games. I am proud that yet another of the very best minds in our industry has chosen to join the Evolution network.”
From the Folsom Prison slot to the Misery Mining review to the Punk toilet slot, these volatile beasts are wonderfully unique, with dark themes and huge wins.
How will this affect your favourite online casino?
When big companies buy smaller companies, one of two things happens: the little companies grow, or they stagnate and slowly disappear.
The bad news is that the stagnation was happening to NetEnt games for years now. We can’t imagine, or haven’t seen an increase, in the quality of their games to hope that they will somehow come out of the quagmire better off.
That’s not to say that your old favourite NetEnt games will go away, just that they might just be best remembered as ‘that software provider that has those two games I play a lot’ and nothing more.
We would probably be looking at jobs in the other departments if we were NetEnt slot creators.
The good news
So far, Evolution Gaming has a good attitude toward the new additions to the family.
If it’s not broken, don’t fix it. NetEnt, Red Tiger, and even Big Time Gaming slots haven’t been affected by their new owner releasing the same quality and number of games.
“The acquisition is in line with Evolution’s strategy of being the world’s number one provider of online casino games, supplying its customers with the best gaming content,” Jens von Bahr continued.
They haven’t made any big layoffs or started merging the companies together. For now, you have all the same teams creating the same video slots you know and love.
In other words, for now, you can safely enjoy all your favourites at the best online casinos around.
