You wait for years for a King Arthur slot game, and two come along at once.

In short, the Sword and the Grail is a 5×3 slot game with 20 fixed paylines a wild (The Holy Grail) and a scatter (The Sword in the Stone). From there you get a whole interesting list of features that is worth exploring.

The theme is classically Arthurian. You have King Arthur, Lady Guinevere, Sir Lancelot and Merlin as the high paying symbols because of course you do.

The low paying symbol is a little less inventive, using 10 to Ace, but brings a nice nostalgic feel that made us think of the original Avalon slot game by Microgaming.

This is an old fashioned theme after all, so it’s ok to be a little old fashioned. You don’t go back in time to find a modern slick game like Prime Zone from Quickspin.

What will make this Sword and The Grail slot special?

The clue is in the title. It’s going to be the sword and the grail. Those two symbols are the two most interesting symbols in this whole game, and for good reasons.

The Wild Grail can show up in the base game with a multiplier of x2, x5, x10, and x100. No that wasn’t a typo, you can get a 100x multiplier in the base game, because Play’n GO face the dragons head-on with balls of steel when it comes to their online slot games.

The scatter Excalibur symbols, on the other have triggers and initial 5 free spins where all wilds have a 2x multiplier. Collect swords as you play and you can get extra free spins bonuses and increase the multiplier on the wild.

Yes, theoretically, you could trigger 5 free spins with a 100x multiplier on the wild on every spin.

Will the Sword and the Grail slot be any good?

This is a loaded question, because looking at this new Sword and the Grail mobile slot we can’t help but feel like there is something a little familiar about the multi-tiered bonus free spins.

In fact, if we were cynics, we’d say they may have borrowed the idea from the popular 300 Shields slot and it’s sequel the 300 Shields Extreme game.

In both those real money games, you collect scatters in the bonus, get to multiple levels, and increase the game multiplier.

But to be fair to the Sword and the Grail, that’s about where the comparison ends. Because here the focus is all about the wilds and the scatter symbols, that’s both a good and a bad thing.

Will you rise from lowly squire to the King of Knights?

This focus on the scatter and wild will no doubt be a double edge sword. On one hand, 300 Shields will give you a 100x multiplier on all your wins during the free spins… if you reach level 3.

The Sword and the Grail video slot, on the other hand, only promises the multiplier on the wild. So in 5 free spins, you may get no wilds at all, and walk away frustrated and disappointed.

But they have the Ace up their sleeve that this 100x multiplier can be found in the base game as well as the bonus. Something neither 300 Shields had the balls to do.

So you know what? We remain on team Play’n GO as they rarely dissapoint us, especially when it comes to VERY volatile slot machines.
